Olá meninas!! 

Decidi fazer esse arquivo para ajudar uma as outras em relação as nossas conversas com as host families pelo skype. Esse é um momento super delicado, que a "futura" au pair quase entra em parafuso, pois não sabe o que perguntar e muito menos as vezes o que responder a certas perguntas. Então, aqui voce poderá pegar algumas perguntas e desde já ir treinando. Seja sozinha, ou com aquela amiga que esta embarcando no mesmo sonho com voce. 

Question about the kids

º How many children are there and what are their names?

º How old are they?

º Do they have favorite toys or games?

º How is their daily schedule like?

º What they like to do?

º Do they practice sports? If YES, which ones? Do they swim yet?

º Are they going to school yet? If so, how far from your house is the school?

º Do they go to school by Bike, bus or by Car? Do I have to drive?

º What do they like to eat? Do you follow a speciel diet?

º Would I be responsible for their dinner, lunch and breakfast every day? If yes, Just to the kids or to all family?

º What time do they go to bed?

º Are they allowed to watch tv/listen to music/play video games? If yes, They have a time to do that or can do anytime that they wish?

º Are they allergic to something? 

Questions about the parents

º  Where do you work and what do you do?
º Do you have any hobbies? - Whats the family hobbies?
º When you guys travel, Would I have to go, too?
º Do you live in a house or apart?
º What qualities do you think your au pair should have?
º Have you ever had an au pair before? What do you mind if I talk to her or send her an e-mail? Why did she go home? How was her relationship with your kids?

About the city 

º  How is your city? What are the other cities nearby?
º  Are there a lot of schools/colleges/universities near your town/city? If YES, which ones?
Are they too expensive?
º Do you have pets?
º Do you have a housekeeper? Is she/he going to clean my room, too? Does she/he come every week?
º Are there many au pairs in the area?
º Where can I take the kids? What things are there to do with kids? Any parks? Library? gym centers?

About the duties as an au pair 

º Do you have any house rules? What are they?
º Where is the au pair room located? Can you describe the room?
º Where is the au pair room located? Can you describe the room?
º Do I have to share the bathroom with the kids or do I have my own?
º What happens if I am talking to your kid and he/she is not behaving well? Am I allowed to give them some time out?
º Am I reponsible for any household duties? If so, which ones?
º Are my friends and family members allowed to come over to visit me?
º Is there a car for the au pair to use?Can I drive it during my free time, too? Am I be responsible for gas?
º Is there a cellphone for the au pair to use?
º Is there a computer for the au pair to use?
º What activities do you expect me to do with the children?
º How will my schedule be like? Will I have the weekends off?
º Will I have time to study? What time?
º Will I have a curfew?

Questions that most of the host families can ask to an au pair

º Tell me about your experience with kids.
º Tell me what you like to do with children.
º What can you do to entertain a child?

º Tell me about you: your interests, skills, what you enjoy doing in your free time and weekends.
º What do you most like to do in you free time?
º Talk about interesting courses you've done (not just relating to children), sports that you do or have done.
º Why did you decide to be an Au Pair?
º Do you think the experience you have with children in your country will be different in Holland?
º Tell me about your family, how is your relationship with them?
º Talk about something difficult with kids that you've done and explain how you overcame it.
º What would you do if a child does something that was not suppose to do and how will a child listen to your advices?
º What you would you do if a child gets angry, crying or kicking?
º What would you do if two kids fight to play with the same toy?
º What can you do if two children want your attention at the same time?
º How can you help a child who cries when I "mother" leaves?
º What kind of activities do you like to do with children?
º How was the longest period of time you have spent away from your family and friends?
º Why do you want to be an au pair?
º Why should I choose you to take care of my children?
º Do you think you will get sad or lonely while you are away from your family? What can you do about it?

º What will you do if you feel like you are under a lot of pressure?
